Springs Farm is a small diversified farm raising chickens, ducks, and geese for egg production. We
also raise bees for products of the hive including liquid raw honey, honey in the comb, and bee
pollen. Much of the tillable land is devoted to bee pasture (yellow sweet clover, alfalfa, herbs and
flowers.) With some allotted to grain for poultry feed. The wooded areas produce sap used in making maple
syrup that is harvested and processed by Lyonsville Sugar House during Feb. And March. Ginseng grows
under the sugar maples as well. Some of the oaks are used for the production of Shiitake (lentinula edodes)
mushrooms and some of the limbs are turned into wood chips and inoculated with various other
mushrooms including Oyster (pleurotus ostreatus) and Wine caps(stropharia rugosa annulata). Some trees
are harvested and cut into boards , and used for bee equipment and furniture. A vegetable patch produces
mixed veggies in season and a strawberry patch produces delicious berries throughout the season.
Everything is grown on well balanced, high calcium soil according to the Growers Program. And foliar fed
for complete nutrition. Judie grows gourds which she dries and turns into works of art.
